Rehua Marae offers a range of free kaumātua and health services to the community. These include a selection of kaupapa Māori clinics and programmes designed to support whānau health and wellbeing.
The marae offers apartment accommodation on site for kaumātua, families and individuals wanting to be a part of a working urban marae and contribute to marae life.
The Kaumātua Service is free and available to whānau Māori aged 55 and above. We operate Tuesday and Thursday weekly from 10am to 2pm and we have a shared lunch each session.
Our friendly registered nurse is available by appointment for health checks, respiratory and medication management, and health education. The nurse will work with your GP and can make referrals to other health providers.
Our Rongoā Māori practitioners offer traditional holistic healing services that are culturally sensitive and embody spiritual healing.
Treatments include mirimiri and romiromi (bodywork) and whitiwhiti kōrero and karakia (pastoral care) and encompass all aspects of wellbeing – te taha whānau, te taha tinana, te taha hinengaro, te taha wairua.
Situated on the marae grounds are four well-appointed kaumātua flats. We also have six apartments which includes two single bed sits, two one-bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom apartments.
Rehua Marae is an important community hub in times of need. We work closely with Local and Central Government agencies and iwi, to support public health initiatives, disaster response and civil defence emergencies, such the Covid-19 response and the Christchurch earthquakes.
